Tests positive for Ferrex’s Togo project

JUNE 19 - Positive results from initial metallurgical testwork have strengthened AIM-listed iron ore and manganese developer Ferrex’s confidence in its 85%-owned Nayega manganese project in northern Togo.
Ferrex believes the project has potential to be developed soon into a low capital and operating cost open pit manganese mine. Initial figures suggest the capital cost will be less than $US15M for up to 250,000tpa.
The testwork confirmed a simple beneficiation route to produce a saleable product equating to South African Manganese Export Grade, and a straightforward scrubbing, screening, crushing and gravity process produces a final saleable product grading 38% Mn. The project has direct access to the major deepwater port of Lome.
MD Dave Reeves says additional testwork is planned to further optimise recoveries and grade to allow finalisation of the best process route for Nayega.
