Warburton surfaces at Red Mountain

PERTH, Apr 3 – China-focused Australian gold explorer Red Mountain Mining has named Neil Warburton as executive chairman and acting CEO following the decisions by both chairman Michael Wolley and CEO Andrew Richards to take lesser roles at the company.
Warburton, who has been a director since Red Mountain was founded six years ago, recently resigned after five years as CEO of underground mining contractor Barminco.
The company says Wolley stepped down as chairman due to increasing full-time work commitments but will remain as an independent non-executive director. After six months as CEO, Richards resigned to pursue other mining-related business opportunities, but will continue to provide geological advisory services to Red Mountain.
Founding independent director Bo Zhou resigned due to increasing business commitments but will continue as a project facilitator for China.
The Competition Tribunal will have before it a recommendation from the commission to impose a penalty of 10% of annual turnover on each company.
