New Strategic view on Golden Blocks
26th Mar 2012
PERTH, Mar 26 – Australian miner Strategic Elements is betting it can find gold that the old-timers missed with the lodging of applications covering all 131sq.km of the historic Golden Blocks gold field on the South Island of New Zealand.
Although the Golden Blocks produced a reported 39,154oz of gold from seven mines from the 1890s to around 1913, Strategic believes the early miners chased visible gold in high-grade quartz veins and missed hidden deposits that may lie outside the quartz veins. The Golden Block area has had no modern exploration.
Strategic says there are three areas with potential for intrusion-related gold similar to Oceana Gold’s nearby Sam’s Creek gold project, with a JORC-compliant 770,000oz gold.
