Centamin begins stage 4
29th Mar 2012
LONDON, Mar 29 – Construction is under way on the $US287M Stage 4 expansion of the process plant at Centamin’s Sukari gold project in the Eastern Desert of Egypt.
The expansion to 10Mtpa throughput includes a new primary crusher, coarse ore stockpile, milling, flotation and thickening circuits with associated infrastructure and is due for commissioning in early 2013.
Centamin says it is working on new life of mine schedules to increase openpit grades and improve the production outlook for 2014-15. The company is also negotiating with the Egyptian Government on future fuel costs in the light of the country’s fiscal challenges.
