Twin Hills starts to dry out
23rd Feb 2012
PERTH, Feb 23 – Production is now getting back to normal after substantial rain delays at Alcyone Resources’ Twin Hills heap leach silver operation, part of its 100%-owned Texas silver and polymetallic project in southeast Queensland, Australia.
Heavy rains delayed completion of Leach Pad 3, which was expected to be in production in January but is now anticipated by late March.
Alcyone says the stacking of high-grade ore on Leach Pad 3 has begun while similar ore is under full irrigation on Leach Pad 2.
A total 400,000 recoverable ounces of silver are stockpiled on Leach Pad 2 and 3. With production rates over 3,100oz/day achieved, despite slower than anticipated ramp-up in recovery rates, the company says it is on track for steady-state operations during the March quarter.
