Rustenburg trouble deepens

JOHANNESBURG, Feb 3 – Impala Platinum has issued dismissal notices to another 13,000 employees taking part in an illegal strike at the Impala Rustenburg platinum mine in South Africa.
The dismissals, of workers who failed to return to work by Wednesday, bring the total number dismissed to about 17,200.
The company says it will set up a rehiring process for employees who wish to reapply for their positions in due course.
